When Carissa Menefee was ready to change her life and improve her family’s economic situation, public transit made it possible. A resident of Chandler, Carissa relied upon First Capital Trolley to get her to her classes in Shawnee, a round trip of nearly 60 miles. “If I didn’t have access to public transit, I would have had to quit,” Carissa says. “No one was going to give me a ride to and from Shawnee every day.”
